BCHC Releases 2026-27 Regular Season Schedule, Divisional Alignment & Playoff Format

The British Columbia Hockey Conference (BCHC) has officially unveiled the regular season schedule, divisional alignment and playoff format for its inaugural 2026-27 Junior A season.

The first BCHC campaign will feature 22 member clubs competing in a 50-game regular season schedule, with each team playing 25 home games and 25 road games. In total, 550 regular season games will be played across British Columbia as teams compete for the first BCHC championship.

Regular Season Highlights

The BCHC’s inaugural season will officially begin on Thursday, September 10, when the Delta Ice Hawks visit the Richmond Sockeyes for the league’s opening game.

The final team to open its schedule will be the Williams Lake Mustangs, who welcome the Nelson Leafs on Friday, September 25.

Inter-division crossover action begins on Tuesday, September 29, when the Princeton Posse travel to face the Chilliwack Jets. A total of 12 crossover games involving the Chilliwack Jets, Langley Trappers, Osoyoos Coyotes, Princeton Posse and Summerland Jets will take place throughout the regular season.

The 2026 BCHC Prospects Game will take place on Tuesday, November 24, at Sungod Arena, hosted by the Delta Ice Hawks.

The BCHC regular season will pause for the holiday break from December 21-28, with league action resuming on December 29.

Divisional Alignment

For the 2026-27 season, the BCHC’s 22 member clubs will compete across four geographic divisions designed to create regional competition and strengthen rivalries throughout the province.

Interior Division (5 Teams)

Kootenay Division (6 Teams)

Mainland Division (6 Teams)

Valley Division (5 Teams)

Playoff Structure

The top four teams from each division will qualify for the 2027 BCHC Playoffs, with four best-of-seven rounds determining the first-ever BCHC Provincial Junior A Champion.

Teams will compete within their divisions through the opening two rounds of the postseason. Following the division playoffs, the League Semi-Finals will feature:

  • Mainland Division Champion vs. Valley Division Champion
  • Interior Division Champion vs. Kootenay Division Champion

The winners of those series will advance to the 2027 Mowat Cup Final, where the BCHC champion will be crowned.
